Springfield, Mass. - Chavaughn Lewis led Marist with 17 points, seven rebounds and 2-for-3 shooting from 3-point range as the Red Foxes defeated Saint Peter's, 64-57, on Friday night in the first round of the 2012 MAAC Men's Basketball Championship.
Jay Bowie had 14 points and also seven rebounds, while Devin Price added 14 points as well for eighth-seeded Marist (14-17). R.J. Hall came off the bench to score 10 points.

The teams traded leads throughout the contest, as the Red Foxes overcame an early deficit to take a 26-21 lead at halftime, only to give the advantage back when Markese Tucker's layup put the Peacocks ahead 40-38 midway through the second half. But Lewis hit back-to-back 3s to spark an 11-0 Marist run for the win.
