Nastasha Powlowsky, Siena, Sr., C, Hudson, N.H./Alvirne
Powlowsky opened the month of April with one of the best weeks of her Siena career. The senior catcher hit an amazing .692 (9-for-13) in four games played, with two doubles, two triples, six RBI, and three runs scored. Her perfect 3-for-3 performance against Sacred Heart (4/3) included all three hits going for extra bases and led Siena to a 7-0 rout of the visiting Pioneers. In her first MAAC doubleheader of the season at Canisius (4/7), Powlowsky went 4-for-7, including driving in three runs in the opener. Additionally, the senior posted a .714 on-base percentage, slugged 1.154, and handled 24 chances in the field without recording an error.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
Rachael Matreale, Rider, Sr., P, 5-10, Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown
Matreale was two innings from a 4-0 record this past week, working 25 innings with 33 strikeouts and only two walks. She threw a five-inning no-hitter with a career-high 13 strikeouts against Saint Peter's in a MAAC win on April 7, the 14th no-hitter in Rider's history and the second in her Bronc career and also defeated Patriot League power Lehigh on April 4, recording six strikeouts. Opponents batted just .206 against her for the week.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Robin Kennery, Canisius, Fr., 2B/3B, 5-7, Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville North
Kennery led all Canisius players last week by batting .458 (11-for-24) with three doubles, two runs scored and eight RBIs as the Golden Griffins went 3-3 in three doubleheaders. In the Griffs' 1-0, 10-inning win over Mount St. Mary's in the home opener April 5, the rookie infielder drove home the game-winning RBI with a one-out base hit to the fence with the bases load to allow the Blue and Gold to score a victory in the longest game in Demske Sports Complex history. She added two more runs batted in against Mount St. Mary's in the nightcap, highlighted by her two doubles, and she was credited with three hits and two RBIs in her first career MAAC games against Siena April 7. She went a combined 5-for-8 with a double and three RBIs at Robert Morris April 9, to give her a team-leading 19 runs batted in through her first 30 career games. She struck out just one time in 26 plate appearances last week and she recorded 23 putouts and 16 fielding assists defensively for the Griffs from second base.
