MAAC Player of the Week
Alyssa Paul, Rider, Jr., 3B, 5-6, Toms River, N.J./Toms River HS East
The junior third baseman led Rider to a 2-0 start in MAAC play, batting .714 in two games - 4-0 and 6-4 victories over Manhattan. Paul also stole two bases and scored two runs while handling 11 of 12 chances at the hot corner.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
Rachael Matreale, Rider, Sr., RHP, 5-10, Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown
Matreale earns her third MAAC Pitcher of the Week award after going 3-0 this past week with two league wins over Manhattan and an extra-inning win at Columbia. Against the Lions, she threw a complete game (eight innings), recording four strikeouts and allowing three hits. Against Manhattan, Matreale threw back-to-back complete games, with a combined 15 strikeouts in 14 innings with the opener a 4-0 two-hit shutout, the eighth shutout of her career. She also handled all nine chances in the field for the week. Matreale is now only eight strikeouts from the 500K plateau.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Nicole Olmedo, Saint Peter's, Fr., INF, 5-8, Chino, Calif., Chino
Olmedo continues to lead the Peahens as she hit .368 this past week, going 7-19, including four homers, six runs scored and six RBI. She also walked three times. In the Peahens' victory over UMBC, Olmedo went 2-4 with a homer, three runs scored and an RBI. She had a .455 on-base percentage and 1.000 slugging percentage for the week.
