2012 Women's Lacrosse Championship Set for Friday

Edison, NJ - The 2012
Women's Lacrosse Championship will be held on Friday, April 27 and
Sunday, April 29 at Demske Field in Buffalo, N.Y. on the campus of Canisius
College.
The first semifinal matchup is on Friday, April 27 between top-seeded Fairfield
and fourth-seeded Siena at 5 p.m. Fairfield won the regular season matchup, 16-11,
on both teams season finale on April 21. Fairfield won the regular season title
going 6-0 in league play and completed its fifth consecutive undefeated regular
season in the MAAC. The Stags have not lost a MAAC regular season game since a loss at LeMoyne (who is no longer a member of MAAC
Women's Lacrosse) on April 22, 2007, but have won only one MAAC Championship in
that time.
The second semifinal matchup will be between second-seeded Canisius and third-seeded
Marist at 8 p.m. Marist defeated Canisius, 13-11, on April 14. Canisius is the
defending MAAC Champion, winning last year's title as the number two seed over
top seeded Fairfield, 13-8.
The championship game will take place on Sunday, April 29 at noon. The
winner of the championship will receive the MAAC's automatic bid to the 2012
NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship play-in game against the winner
of the Atlantic 10 conference.
