MAAC Announces 2012 Women's Tennis All-MAAC Teams

Edison, NJ - The Metro Atlantic
Athletic Conference announced the members of the 2012 Women's Tennis All-MAAC
teams, highlighted by Fairfield's Monica Yajima, who was selected as the
league's Player of the Year for the second year in a row.
Also earning
individual honors are Ashley Ta from Niagara and Adina Halagian from Saint
Peter's who earned Co-Rookie accolades. Loyola head coach Rick McClure was
named 2012 Anaconda Sports Coach of the Year.
Yajima, a sophomore
from Greenwich, Conn., finished the regular season with an overall record of 18-8
and a perfect 6-0 mark in MAAC play. She ended the regular season with a record
of 15-2 in first singles play. Yajima
also earned All-MAAC First Team No. 1 Doubles honors with her partner Carolina
Koladzyn. The doubles pair finished 2-1
in the MAAC and 2-3 overall.
Ta, a freshman
from Mission Viejo, Calif., finished the regular season as a Purple Eagles with
an overall record of 14-8 including 6-1 record in the MAAC playing in the No. 2
and No. 3 positions.
Halagian, a
freshman from Bucharest, Romania, finished the regular season with an overall
record of 18-11 and 5-2 in the MAAC.
Halagian played mostly in the No. 2 singles position.
McClure, currently
in his 28th season at Loyola, has been coaching the women's program for the
past 18 years. He led the Greyhounds to a 5-2 record in the conference. Loyola
has an overall record of 10-2.
