Canisius Wins the 2012 MAAC Men's Lacrosse Championship

- The third seeded Canisius College Golden Griffins upset the top seeded Siena
College Saints 10-9 in the 2012 Men's Lacrosse Championship game at Tenney
Stadium at Leonidoff Field in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on the campus of Marist
College.
The Griffins were trailing up until the 3:29
mark in the fourth quarter when they tied the game. With 1:46 left in the game,
they took their first lead of the game with the go ahead goal scored by 2012
Rookie of the Year Tim Edwards. The Griffins were led by attackman Jimmy Haney
who had four goals on the game. Haney was awarded the Most Outstanding Player
for the championship. Sean Callahan, named to the All-Tournament Team, led the
Canisius defense in the goal with eight saves and three groundballs. Callahan
shutout the Siena offense in the second half, not allowing a goal past him.
The Saint's Danny Martinsen and Chris D'Alberti
both posted hat tricks in the game, with three goals apiece.
