Manhattan Wins 2012 MAAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship

Lawrenceville, NJ - Manhattan College won the 2012 MAAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship at Rider University with 226 points. The Jaspers had won 13 straight titles before finishing second to Rider last year.

Rider finished second this year with 170 points. Saint Peter's College was third with 118 points, followed by Iona College (85) and Marist College (49)

Rider's James Burroughs tied Manhattan's Neville Rose's (2001) record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.39. Manhattan's Brian McGovern broke his own record in the pole vault with a height of 5.06-meters.

Iona's Alexander Soderberg was selected as the Most Outstanding Performer for Track events for winning the 5000-meters and his record-setting performance in the 10000-meters. Manhattan's Roman Ewald earned Most Outstanding Performer for Field events following his wins in the shot put and discus, and a second place finish in the hammer throw.

Manhattan head coach Dan Mecca was chosen as the 2012 MAAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year.
