Stoiberg, Gajewski, Marzik Named Weekly Award Winners

Player of the Week
Hanna Stoiberg, Marist, Sr., Setter/Right Side Hitter,
6-2, Thousand Oaks, Calif./La Reina
Stoiberg continues to take home hardware this season as she
was named the Volley in the Valley Tournament MVP this past weekend, improving
on her stats that won her last week's Player of the Week. She finished the weekend with 34 kills, 73
assists, 14 digs, 13 blocks and a .370 hitting percentage, as the Red Foxes won
the Volley in the Valley championship. She was one dig shy of a triple-double
in the opening match of the weekend against NJIT, finishing with 10 kills and
28 assists to go along with nine digs and three blocks. In Marist's second
match of the day against Hartford, Stoiberg had team-highs with 13 kills, to go
against one attacking error for a .462 hitting percentage and 22 assists. She
also added two digs, two service aces and seven blocks, part of the Red Foxes'
17-block attack for the match. In the weekend finale to decide the
championship, Stoiberg continued her high-level play, finishing with 11 kills,
to only three errors, and again was the team leader with 23 assists. She also
contributed with one service ace, three digs and another three blocks.
Libero of the Week
Brittany Gajewski, Rider,
Sr., Libero, 5-5, Whitehouse Station, N.J./Hunterdon
Central Regional
Gajewski helped the Broncs to an undefeated week as Rider defeated
Fairleigh Dickinson in five sets. A team captain, Gajewski had a career-high 40
digs in the two hour marathon with the Knights. She also served at a 94 percent
clip (only one error) for the week and averaged 8.00 digs per set, as she now
has 829 digs in her Bronc career.
Rookie of the Week
Nicole Marzik, Fairfield, Fr., Outside Hitter, 5-9,
Prosper, Texas/Prosper
Rookie Nicole Marzik averaged 3.00 kills and
3.14 points per set along with four digs, two assists, and two total blocks in
seven sets for the Stags at the UConn Classic. In two sets against Michigan
State, Marzik tallied six kills and two digs. In two sets against UConn, she
had two kills and a block. In the Stags' 3-0 win over Dartmouth, Marzik got the
starting nod and delivered a career-high 13 kills on .455 hitting along with
two digs, a block, and an assist.
