Brady, Yamashiro, and Howell Selected as Volleyball Weekly Award Winners

Player of the Week

Audra Brady, Marist, Sr., Setter, 5-9, Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic

Brady posted very strong numbers for a setter, coming close to a triple-double twice. She posted 8 kills, 52 assists, and 10 digs against Fairfield on Wednesday and had 9 kills, 46 assists, and 12 digs against Rider on Saturday. On Sunday she had 33 assists against Saint Peter’s. Brady averaged above 10 assists per set, with a 10.92 assists per set average this week.

Libero of the Week

Allie Yamashiro, Manhattan, Fr., Libero, 5-2, Kapolei, Hawaii/Kamehameha

Yamashiro led Manhattan’s defensive effort against Iona on Saturday.  She paced the Jaspers with 31 digs, as Manhattan registered 117 total digs as a team.  Yamashiro added seven assists and two service aces while also getting credit for a kill.  For the season, she’s averaging a team-best 4.55 digs per set.

Rookie of the Week

Haley Howell, Siena, Fr., Setter, 5-10, Tucson, Ariz./Salpointe Catholic

Howell led Siena to a 3-0 MAAC week with three strong efforts on the road. She averaged 12.3 assists per set on the week and keyed several decisive runs with her strong service. Howell had 44 assists and killed both her attacks in a 3-1 win at Quinnipiac to begin the week. She also added three aces and led a 4-0 run that gave Siena the lead for good in the fourth and final set. Howell had 38 assists in the win at Saint Peter’s and keyed the first set win by serving Siena to seven straight points. Howell ended the week with 41 assists as Siena swept Rider.
