Player of the Week
Natalie Ziskin, Iona, So., Setter, 5-8, Burnt Hills, NY / Burnt Hills
Sophomore setter Natalie Ziskin was the catalyst for the Gaels two MAAC wins this week, posting 10.88 assists and 3.00 digs per set. She posted 40 assists and eight digs in a three-set win over Quinnipiac Saturday before a 47-assist, 16-dig double-double at Fairfield Sunday. She propelled the Gaels to a .261 hitting percentage, almost 50 points higher than their MAAC-leading average on the season.
Libero of the Week
Allie Yamashiro, Manhattan, Fr., Libero, 5-2, Kapolei, Hawaii/Kamehameha
Yamashiro led the Jaspers with 4.91 digs per set while also recording 0.82 assists per set in three matches last week. In Manhattan’s four-set victory at Rider on Wednesday night, she tallied a team-high 19 digs while also distributing four assists. After posting a 13-dig effort at Fairfield on Saturday, Yamashiro registered 22 digs in the 3-1 win over Quinnipiac on Sunday. She added five assists and a service ace in the victory.
Rookie of the Week
Kaitlyn Griffin, Rider, Fr., Middle Hitter, 6-1, Chesapeake, Va. /Hickory
Griffin led Rider to a 1-1 week, averaging 2.75 kills per set, 1.62 digs per set and 1.12 blocks per set in MAAC matches against first place Manhattan and against Saint Peter’s. Against the Jaspers, Griffin had 12 kills and 11 digs, helping the Broncs to take a set off the first place Jaspers and against the Peacocks, Griffin had 10 kills, two service aces and hit .421 in Rider’s 3-1 win.
