The 2013 All-MAAC Volleyball Teams Announced

Loudonville, N.Y. - Mackenzie Stephens from Marist College has been named the 2013 MAAC Player of the Year by the league's head coaches and headlines this season's All-MAAC teams.
Stephens, a junior middle blocker from Holland, Michigan, ranks second in the MAAC with a .339 hitting percentage. She also ranks third in the league in kills per set with 3.39 and in points with a 3.91 average. Stephens was a member of the 2012 MAAC All-Academic Team and was also selected to the Preseason All-MAAC Team in 2013. She was named Player of the Week twice this season, on Sept. 23 and Nov. 19.
Marist College junior Brook Zywick has been chosen as the 2013 MAAC Libero of the Year. She ranks 38th nationally with a 4.95 digs per set average on the season. In league matches, Zywick ranks second in total digs with 328 and second in digs per set with 4.90. The Garden City, Michigan native set the Marist College single season dig record with 511 on the year and was named Libero of the Week twice this season, on Sept. 9 and Nov. 19.
Fairfield University senior Rachel Romansky claims her third consecutive MAAC Setter of the Year award. The 2013 MAAC Preseason Player of the Year Romansky ranks fourth in the MAAC with 9.81assists per set and fifth in the league with 579 total assists. The Denver, Colorado native was named to the 2012 All-MAAC First Team and 2011 All-MAAC Second Team. She has also been selected to the 2012, 2011, and 2010 All-Tournament Teams.
Rider University’s Kaitlyn Griffin has been selected as the 2013 MAAC Rookie of the Year. The middle hitter from Chesapeake, Virginia ranks fourth in the MAAC and leads all freshman with a .300 hitting percentage. Griffin leads the Broncs in kills, kills per set, total blocks, and points per set. She was named Rookie of the Week five times this season on Sept. 3, Sept. 9, Oct. 29, Nov. 5, and Nov. 12.
Marist College head coach Tom Hanna has been named the 2013 Anaconda Sports MAAC Coach of the Year. In his seventh season at the helm of the Red Foxes, Hanna led the team to a 14-4 conference record and overall record of 20-8. Marist put together a seven game winning streak to close out the season and win a share of the MAAC regular season championship title.
The All-MAAC First Team consists of Fairfield University's Marilyn Peizer and Romansky, Iona College’s Catrina Warren, Marist College’s Audra Brady, Stephens, and Zywick, and Siena College's Taylor Akana.
The All-MAAC Second Team features Canisius College's Emily Litwin, Fairfield University’s Hayley Moyer, Iona College’s Alicja Pawelec and Natalie Ziskin, Manhattan College’s Ellie Wiekamp, Marist College’s Courtney Shaw, and Siena College’s Jaqueline Skeen.
The All-MAAC Rookie Team members are Canisius College’s Katlyn Tyler, Manhattan College’s Allie Yamashiro, Quinnipiac University’s Allison Leigh, Rider University’s Griffin and Ryan Ackermann, and Siena College’s Haley Howell and Bobbi Lin Kalama.
