Robert Morris Stuns Top Seed Rider, 1-0 in MAAC Semifinal

Lawrenceville, N.J. – Fourth-seed Robert Morris University stunned top-seed Rider University, 1-0, in the second semifinal of the 2013 Inaugural MAAC Field Hockey Championship, held at Ben Cohen Field on the campus of Rider University.
The win was the first ever postseason victory for the Colonials having only qualified for its first conference championship this season.
Robert Morris outshot the Broncs 22-18. Jess Martin-Brown had the lone goal of the game in the 28th minute off a rebound assist from Julianne Alspaugh.
Rider goalkeeper Joelle Prettyman made fourteen saves, while Robert Morris goalkeeper Erin McKenzie had seven saves.
The Colonials, now 11-7, advance to the title game against the third seed Quinnipiac Bobcats to be held tomorrow, November 9th at 3pm. The championship game will be broadcast live on MAAC.TV.
The winner of the championship final will advance to the NCAA Field Hockey Championship. The selection show is scheduled for Sunday, November 10th at 10pm on NCAA.com with the play-in game set for Wednesday.
