Rider Hosts Basketball Doubleheader on Sunday on ESPN3

Edison, N.J. - Rider University's Alumni Gymnasium will be the site for the next MAAC men's and women's basketball doubleheader to be broadcasted this season on Sunday, Feb. 17. Both National MAAC Games of the Week will air live on ESPN3.

The first game of the twin bill will feature a match-up between the women's programs from Loyola University Maryland and Rider at 1:00 p.m. Loyola, 10-14 overall and 5-8 in the MAAC, is led by senior guard Katie Sheahin, who is contributing 14.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, and senior forward Alyssa Sutherland, who is posting 8.0 points and 5.3 rebounds an outing for the Greyhounds. Rider, 12-12 overall and 7-6 in the MAAC, is led by junior guard/forward MyNeshia McKenzie, who is registering 13.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, and senior guard Sironda Chambers, who is averaging 13.2 points and 4.5 caroms a night for the Broncs.

In their first meeting on Jan. 13, McKenzie recorded a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead Rider to an 81-74 overtime win over Loyola at Reitz Arena. Mikal Johnson came off the bench to post 18 points and five steals, while Caitlin Bopp and Emily Fazzini added 10 points apiece. Sheahin netted a game-high 20 points for Loyola, while Sutherland contributed 13 points and six rebounds.

Game two has the men's teams from Marist College and Rider for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off. Marist, 7-19 overall and 4-11 in the MAAC, is led by sophomore guard/forward Chavaughn Lewis, who is averaging 15.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, as well as junior forward Adam Kemp, who is contributing 9.5 points and 8.5 rebounds an outing for the Red Foxes. Rider, 14-13 overall and 9-6 in the MAAC, is led by junior guard Anthony Myles, who is averaging 12.7 points and 4.7 rebounds an outing, and senior guard Jonathon Thompson, who is netting 12.4 points and grabbing 3.9 rebounds a night for the Broncs.

Thompson matched his season high with 23 points as Rider earned a 64-58 win over Marist on Feb. 3. Daniel Stewart added 12 points and seven rebounds and Junior Fortunat had 10 points off the bench for the Broncs. Lewis scored 24 points and also had five assists and five steals for Marist.
