hit safely in all three games of Siena's season-opening three-game set at
perennial power Central Florida, batting .364 with three RBI. He went 2-for-4
with three RBI and delivered the big blow in the game - a two-out, two-run
single in the Saints' 7-4 upset win Saturday. Balkwill posted a .417 on-base
percentage, a .455 slugging percentage and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage
with 15 putouts and an assist.

Cortright opened the Canisius season with a dominant performance, as the
junior went seven innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits,
walking one and striking out eight. The 6-foot-5 righty struck out the first
four batters he faced and didn't allow a Delaware batter past first base until
the sixth inning and retired six of the first seven leadoff batters on the day.

Vangeison saw his first collegiate action in Niagara's three
games last week, and the Temecula, Calif. native didn't disappoint. The
freshman went 1-for-2 with a two-RBI double on opening day against USC
Upstate. He followed up by reaching base all three times he went to the
plate against Wofford. The freshman with a 1-for-1, added another RBI,
and drew a pair of walks in the 4.5 inning game. In Sunday's tilt against
Kentucky, Vangeison again recorded two RBIs and tallied his second double of
the weekend in a game where he went 2-for-4 at the dish. He finished the
weekend with a .571 batting average, a .667 on base percentage, and an .857
slugging percentage. In total he brought in five RBIs and drew two
walks.
