MAAC
Offensive Player of the Week
Connor Rice, Marist
College
Sr., 5-7, Attack,
Penfield, N.Y./Penfield
Rice
kicked off his senior season with the same results as the rest of his career -
by filling up the stat sheet. Rice registered five points in the season-opener,
scoring three goals and adding two assists, as Marist powered its way to a
come-from-behind 13-9 victory over Stony Brook, the defending America East
Champions. He took five shots in the game, putting all five on frame, for a
.600 shooting percentage. Down 4-0 early, Rice scored a pair of unassisted
tallies, fighting through traffic in front of the net on both of them, to help
start the comeback for the Red Foxes. His third goal of the game gave Marist
its first lead at 9-8, one that the Red Foxes would not give back.
MAAC
Defensive Player of the Week
Jamie Hebden,
University of Detroit Mercy
Sr., Defense,
Farmington Hills, Mich. / Brother Rice
Hebden
tied his career mark with a game-high five caused turnovers and scooped up a
team-best five ground balls against Navy on Friday. He also started the Titan offense coming up
with an assist as his interception set up Shayne Adams' first goal of the game.
It was his second career assist and point and the first since the last game of
his freshman year.
MAAC
Rookie of the Week
Tyler
Eidel, Manhattan College
So., Attack, 6'4", St. Louis, MO/Vianney
After
sitting out all last season with an injury, Tyler Eidel burst onto the Jaspers
scene in a big way at Army last Wednesday. The 6'4" attackman gave
Manhattan an early lead with his first career goal at the 11:26 mark of the
first quarter. Eidel would not stop there as he went on to bury two more goals,
earning his first career hat trick. More impressive was the efficiency of his
offense, scoring on three of the four shots he took during the contest. Eidel
is now second on the team in goals and points through Manhattan's first two
games.
