Paige Lloyd, Siena, So., 1B/OF, 5-4, Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy
Lloyd batted .533 and had a slugging percentage of 1.066 while driving in seven runs in the Saints' 5-1 week. The sophomore also scored six times, had two homeruns, and recorded a .562 on base percentage in the UMBC Spring Classic. In Siena's historic 15-run inning against Coppin State, Lloyd recorded three hits in the frame and slugged her first career grand slam. The 15 runs scored by Siena were the most ever by a MAAC team and tied for the 10th most in NCAA history. Lloyd also had 19 putouts in the week, while committing only one error.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
Melanie White, Marist, So., Pitcher, 6-0, Highlands Ranch, Colo./Rock Canyon:
The sophomore right-hander turned in a career-best performance on Monday, March 11 before following it up with a strong complete game outing on Saturday, March 16 on the way to a 15 inning week, in which she allowed just one earned run. White's week began on Monday versus Rhode Island at the UMBC Dawg Pound Invitational where she hurled her first career shutout with a sparkling three-hit effort against the Rams. On Saturday against the Toreros, the sophomore completed her second straight game as she kept the Red Foxes in a tight matchup that went into extra innings. For the week, she threw 15.0 innings, allowed one earned run and struck out six batters, while posting a 0.47 ERA and allowing just 15 combined base runners.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Elena Bowman, Manhattan, Fr., C/IF, 5-8, San Mateo, Calif./Aragon
Bowman continued her torrid start to the season, hitting .316 with three home runs and seven RBIs in seven games last week. Against Yale at the Stony Brook Invitational on Saturday, Bowman belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning. She finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored and four RBIs in the 14-11 victory. Later on Saturday against Providence, Bowman crushed the go-ahead two-run homer to center field in the top of the seventh inning, as the Jaspers came from behind for a 6-4 win. She also had a double in the game. Bowman extended her home run streak to three straight games with a solo shot against Holy Cross on Sunday. The freshman leads Manhattan with five home runs and 13 RBIs through 12 games this season.
