MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

Jack Doherty, Marist

Sr., Attack, Yorktown Heights, New York/Lakeland

Doherty had his second five-point performance of the season, scoring three goals and assisting on two others while taking a game-high 11 shots, in Marist's 11-8 victory over Detroit in its MAAC opener on Saturday. It is the fourth time in five games this season that Doherty scored at least three goals in a game. Wearing #34 to honor the memory of former teammate Eddie Coombs, Doherty had a hand in each of Marist's three goals as the Red Foxes overcame a sloppy start and a 3-1 deficit early in the second quarter. He scored each of the first two goals for Marist and assisted on the third. He completed the hat trick early in the third quarter, part of a 4-0 run that put the Red Foxes up for good. Doherty put eight of his 11 shots on net and also scooped up two ground balls and caused a Detroit turnover.

MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

Tyler Black, Jacksonville

Jr., Defense, Jupiter, Florida/Jupiter

Black helped lead Jacksonville to a 1-1 record this week by causing seven turnovers and recording 10 ground balls. On Tuesday, he scored a goal in the Dolphin's loss to Robert Morris. He recorded four groundballs and caused three turnovers. Black also had a hand in Jacksonville's 11-10 overtime win against Siena in the MAAC opener on Saturday. He recorded six groundballs and caused four turnovers.

MAAC Rookie of the Week

Vince Gravino, Canisius

Fr., Attack, Westlake, Ohio/St. Edward HS

Gravino led the Griffs offense during the week, recording 11 points, seven goals and four assists in a pair of contests. In a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, Gravino recorded his first collegiate hat trick to go along with an assist in a 12-8 setback to Hobart. He also became the first Griff since 2007 to net three man-up goals in a single contest. The rookie was even better in the team's first win on Saturday, recording a point on seven of the Griffs' 10 tallies. Gravino set career highs with seven points, four goals and three assists in a 10-7 win over VMI -- recording the most points by a Canisius freshman since Adam Jones in 2008.
