MAAC Announces 2012-2013 MAAC Men's All-Rookie Team

EDISON, N.J. - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announces the 2012-2013 All-MAAC Men's Basketball Rookie Team, selected by the MAAC's head coaches.

The team is made up of Marcus Gilbert and Amadou Sidibe from Fairfield University, Shane Richards and RaShawn Stores from Manhattan College and T.J. Cline from Niagara University. These five players are eligible to become the 2012-2013 MAAC Rookie of the Year, also selected by the head coaches of the league. The winner will be announced on Thursday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Postseason Awards Show located at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The show will be broadcast live on MAAC.TV.

Gilbert, a 6-foot-6, 185-pound freshman forward from Smyrna, Del., averaged 5.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game for the Stags this season. He posted double figures in three contests during his rookie campaign. Gilbert earned two MAAC Rookie of the Week awards this season.

Sidibe, a 6-foot-8, 215-pound freshman forward from the Bronx, N.Y., contributed 6.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in his first season with the Stags. He posted eight double-digit performances, and netted 55.6 percent of his shots from the floor. Sidibe was named MAAC Rookie of the Week on Jan. 28.

Richards, a 6-foot-5, 185-pound freshman forward from New York, N.Y., averaged 7.3 points per game. He connected on 40.6 percent of his attempts from the field, 39.6 percent from behind the arc and 78.6 percent from the charity stripe. Richards recorded 11 double-digit scoring performances during his freshman campaign and was named MAAC Rookie of the Week on Jan. 14.

Stores, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound sophomore guard from the Bronx, N.Y., averaged 5.7 points 2.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game over 29 games played for the Jaspers. Additionally, Stores registered six double-digit scoring efforts and earned three MAAC Rookie of the Week honors.

Cline, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound freshman forward from Plano, Texas, averaged 7.7 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for the Purple Eagles. In addition, he shot 48 percent from the field and 35 percent from three-point range. Cline claimed the MAAC Rookie of the Week award three times this season.
