MAAC ANNOUNCES 2012-2013 MAAC WOMEN'S ALL-ROOKIE TEAM

EDISON, N.J. - The Metro Atlantic Athletic
Conference announces the 2012-2013 MAAC All-Rookie Women's Basketball Team, selected by the
MAAC's head coaches.
The team is made up of Tiahana Mills from Canisius
College, Kristin Schatzlein of Fairfield University, Joy Adams of Iona College,
Diana Logan and Tiffany Padgett of Loyola University Maryland,
Shayna Ericksen of Manhattan College,
Sydney Coffey of Marist College and Mikal Johnson from Rider University. One of these eight players
will be named the 2012-2013
MAAC Rookie of the
Year, also selected by the head coaches of the league. The winner
will be announced on Thursday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Postseason Awards Show located at the Naismith
Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The
show will be broadcast live on MAAC.TV.
Mills,
a 5-foot-5, freshman
guard from Binghamton, N.Y., averaged
4.3 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, and 2.7 assists
per game good
for ninth place on the MAAC assists chart.
Schatzlein, a
6-foot, freshman guard from Tolland,
Conn., averaged 4.1 points per game and 2.0 rebounds per game for the
Stags this season. She was third on the team in 3 point field goal percentage (34.4).
Adams, a 5-foot-11, freshman forward
from Orlando, Fl., led all active freshmen
in scoring during
the regular season
with 13.2 points
and led the conference in rebounds with 10.1 rebounds
per game. She posted double
figures in 24 contests,14 of them being double-doubles. Adams earned
11 MAAC Rookie of the Week awards this season.
Logan,
a 5-foot-11, freshman guard
from Waldorf, Md., averaged
5.0 points per game for the Greyhounds. She netted 75.0 percent from the foul
line and added
1.3 rebounds per game.
Padgett, a
6-foot-1, freshman center from Laurel, Md. contributed 4.2 points per game and 4.7 rebounds
per game for the Hounds. She shot
40.3 percent
from the field on the season.
Ericksen, a 6-foot, freshman
forward from Hackettstown, N.J., contributed 7.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game in her first season with
the Jaspers. She claimed two MAAC Rookie of the Week honors this season.
Coffey, a 6-foot, freshman
guard from New Hope, Minn.,
averaged 6.8 points
per game, 2.8 rebounds per game and 1.0 assists
per game. From the line, Coffey earned an 80.4 shooting percentage. She was named MAAC Rookie of the Week three times for her efforts this season.
Johnson, a
5-foot-8, freshman guard from Manassas, Va., averaged
5.8 points per game and 1.6 rebounds
per game. On Dec. 17 she earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors.
