MAAC ANNOUNCES 2012-2013 ALL-MAAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAMS Members of All-MAAC First Team Eligible for Pepsi Max MAAC Player of the Year Award

EDISON, N.J. - The Metro Atlantic
Athletic Conference announces
the 2012-2013 All-MAAC
Women's Basketball Teams, selected by the MAAC's head coaches.
The first team is made up of Ashley Durham from Canisius
College, Damika Martinez
from Iona College,
Lauren Gatto from Niagara
University, Rider University's MyNeshia
McKenzie and Lily Grenci from Siena College.
Lily Grenci earns her second consecutive First Team selection. These five players
are now eligible
to be named the 2012-2013 Pepsi Max MAAC Player of the Year, also selected
by the head coaches
of the league. The winner
will be announced on Thursday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Postseason Awards Show located at the Naismith Memorial
Basketball Hall of Fame. The show will
be broadcast live on MAAC.TV.
Durham, a 5-foot-5, senior guard from
Millville, N.J., played a major role in the success of the Golden Griffs this season. She leads the MAAC in free throw percentage shooting 90 percent,
and is ranked 13th in scoring with 11.6 points per game. Durham was named
MAAC
Player of the Week on Jan. 7 and led Canisius
with 11.6 points per game and added 65 assists throughout
the season.
Martinez, a 5-foot-7, sophomore
gaurd from Meriden,
Conn., has had an outstanding season for the Gaels. She finishes the regular
season leading her team and the conference in scoring averaging 17.6 points per game. She tied for first in 3 point
field goals made completing a total of 64 from behind the arc. Martinez has been named MAAC Player of the Week three times this season.
Gatto,
a 6-foot-2, junior center from Mayfield, Ohio, finished the regular season ranked fourth in scoring
(14.3 ppg) and fourth in the
league in field goal percentage (48.8). Gatto has earned MAAC Player of the Week honors twice this season.Gatto rounded
out the season with a total of
21 blocks and 183 rebounds (6.3 rpg) which was good enough for tenth in the league.
McKenzie, a 5-foot-11, junior forward
from Springfield, Pa., helped lead the Broncs
to a fourth-place finish during
the regular season. She is 5th in the MAAC in scoring
with 13.9 points per game, and second in rebounding with 9.7 boards an outing.
McKenzie is also eigth in the league in steals (1.9). A two-time
MAAC Player of the Week, she has netted double-digit points in 24 contests for the Broncs and recorded 13
double-doubles this season.
Grenci, a 6-foot-1, senior forward from the Mars, Pa., earned a
spot
on the All-MAAC First Team for the second consecutive year. She finished the regular season ranked second in scoring
(15.4 ppg) and third in rebounding (9.4 rpg). Grenci has won MAAC Player of the week twice this season. She has started
all 29 games for the Saints this season and became the 25th player
in school history to score 1,000 career points on
Feb.15 against Rider.
The 2012-2013 All-MAAC
Second Team is a
strong
unit as well. The Second Team is made up of the duo of junior forwards
from Fairfield University Katie Cizynski and Brittany Obi-Tabot, Iona College freshman forward Joy Adams, senior guard Katie Sheahin
from Loyola University Maryland and Marist College senior forward Elizabeth
Beynonn and junior guard Casey Dulin.
This season's third unit is also a formidable group.
The Third Team consists of Manhattan College junior forward
Monica Roeder,
Marist College junior
guard Leanne Ockenden
and junior forward
Emma O'Connor, Rider Uinversity senior forward Caitlin
Bopp and Saint Peter's
University junior guard Aziza May.
