Lauren Liseth, Fairfield, Jr., Catcher/DP, Centralia, Wash./Centralia HS
Liseth batted .500 during the Stags' five-game run at the ESPN Citrus Classic in Orlando. The junior had at least one hit in all five games and finished with seven hits in 14 at-bats. She posted three doubles with a home run and four RBI. She also walked twice to raise her on-base percentage to .562 and posted a .929 slugging percentage. Liseth has at least one hit in all nine games played by the Stags this year.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
Janine Lalli, Marist, So., UT, 5-8, Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester:
The versatile sophomore registered Marist's best pitching performance of its opening four-game set of tournament contests at Norfolk State. Getting the nod as the starting pitcher on Sunday morning versus Army, Lalli shut down the potent Black Knight bats to the tune of one unearned run in a complete six inning start. It only took the sophomore 87 pitches to notch the sixth complete game of her career. With the addition of a brief relief appearance versus Delaware on Saturday, she finished the week with a 0.00 ERA in 6.2 innings pitched with one strike out and 10 total ground ball outs.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Kyrsten Van Natta, Marist, Fr., INF, 5-6, Maplewood, N.J./Columbia
Van Natta had a strong rookie debut for the Red Foxes' in their opening weekend of 2013 action at Norfolk State's Spartan Classic. Starting in every game for Marist, the freshman put on an immediate show with her talented glove work at shortstop and excellent speed on the base paths. After being elevated to the leadoff role in Game 2 of the weekend, Van Natta's offense flourished with hits in every contest and reaching base at least twice per game. Once on base, she wreaked havoc for the opposition with three total steals. For the week, Van Natta hit .385 (5-13) with three runs scored, three stolen bases, one RBI and 19 successful defensive fielding opportunities. Her on-base percentage for the weekend was .438 (7-16).
