MAAC Softball Weekly Award Winners Announced

MAAC Player of the Week

Amanda Irving, Rider, So., 1B/2B, 5-4, Westminster, Md./Westminster

Irving batted .636 for the week as Rider split four games, including  two at Saint Peter's to open MAAC play. Against Hartford in the second game, she went four for four with two RBI and a run scored as the Broncs salvaged a split with the Hawks. Against the Peacocks,  Irving had two hits, two walks and three runs scored as Rider opened conference play 1-1. For the week, Irving slugged .727 and had an on-base percentage of .692.

MAAC Pitcher of the Week

Emily Osterhaus, Marist, Sr., P, 5-4, Suwanee, Ga./Peachtree Ridge

The senior right-hander had arguably the best single-game outing of her career on Wednesday, March 27 at Army, as she threw an 11-inning complete game shutout over the Black Knights. With Army’s stalwart pitcher Morgan Lashley holding the Marist offense off of the scoreboard, it was up to Osterhaus to do the same versus the Black Knights. After Nicole Cheek finally broke the 0-0 deadlock in the top of the 11th inning, Osterhaus shut down Army one more time to earn the hard-fought 1-0 victory. For the game, she allowed six hits, one walk and struck out four batters to collect her eighth career shutout.

MAAC Rookie of the Week

Emily Cottrell, Rider, Fr., 3B, 5-5, Beachwood, N.J./Toms River HS South

Cottrell entered the week with only five hits on the season and took care of that stat with seven hits in 10 at-bats over four games for a .700 average as Rider split its games. She went three for three with five RBI and her first two collegiate home runs as the Broncs salvaged a split in game two vs. Hartford and Cottrell had four hits in five at-bats as Rider split two MAAC games at Saint Peter's. For the week, she had three runs scored and nine RBI, slugging 1.500 as she raised her average almost 100 points.
