Kehli Washington, Rider, Jr., CF, 5-3, Lulea, Sweden/New Rochelle
Washington batted .615 in five games last week for Rider with eight runs scored and six walks for an on-base percentage of .737. She handled all 15 chances in the field without an error.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
Janine Lalli, Marist, So., UT, 5-8, Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester
Lalli led Marist’s pitching effort for the week as she hurled the Red Foxes’ fifth shutout of the season with a career-best one-hit performance at home versus Lafayette on April 10. After Wednesday’s outing, she came back on the weekend in MAAC play with an important save of Emily Osterhaus’ game one start at Niagara by striking out the first two Purple Eagles that she saw. In Game Two, Lalli got the call to start and held Niagara hitless until the fourth inning. For the week, Lalli threw 13.2 innings and allowed just three earned runs on nine hits for a 1.54 ERA, while striking out seven batters and posting a 1-1 record with a save.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Elena Bowman, Manhattan, Fr., C/IF, 5-8, San Mateo, Calif./Aragon
Bowman hit a combined .636 in four games against Rider and Fairfield last weekend. In the first game of the Jaspers’ doubleheader sweep of Rider on Saturday, she went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. She was held hitless in the second game, but reached base twice on a walk and a hit by pitch. Then in the twinbill at Fairfield on Sunday, Bowman was a combined 5-for-7 in the two games. She finished a triple shy of the cycle in the first game, going 4-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs. Bowman belted her 10th home run of the season in the game, becoming just the third Jasper to reach that mark, and later delivered the go-ahead RBI single in the sixth inning. In the nightcap against the Stags, she broke up a no-hitter with a sixth-inning single, one of two Manhattan hits in the game.
