Offensive Player of the Week

Tierney Larson, Marist, Jr., Attack, 5-6, Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe

Larson had a game for the record books on Wednesday, April 10 versus Manhattan at home. The junior attacker set both the single-game and single-season assist marks for Marist with her seven helpers against the Jaspers. After earlier in the year tying the Red Foxes’ previous single-game assist record of six that was set in 1998, Larson came out on Wednesday and broke that record with seven assists in just under 45 minutes of action. With a tie of the single-season mark to start the day, Larson destroyed Lindsey Diener’s 2008 record of 33 helpers. In 14 games this season, the junior has assisted on 40 goals and is within striking distance of the MAAC’s all-time single-season mark of 47. Outside of setting up teammates versus Manhattan, Larson also netted her seventh goal of the season and controlled three ground balls.

Defensive Player of the Week

Kayla Scully, Canisius, So., Goalkeeper, 5-4, Rodman, N.Y./South Jefferson HS

Scully anchored the Canisius defense to a pair of impressive MAAC victories during the week, posting a 4.50 goals against average and .667 save percentage against Siena and Fairfield. The sophomore netminder recorded six saves, while allowing only three goals against the Saints. On Saturday, Scully matched her career high with 12 saves, holding the Stags to just six goals in a 13-6 win. The victory handed Fairfield its first home conference loss since 2007 and helped the Griffs clinch at least a share of their first MAAC regular-season title.

Rookie of the Week

Mary Kate McCormick, Iona, Fr., Attack, 5-7, Port Jefferson, N.Y./Comsewogue

Freshman Mary Kate McCormick finished with seven points on the week, scoring three times and adding four assists. Against Fairfield, McCormick had one goal and one assist with two shots, two ground balls and one caused turnover. In the Iona victory over Niagara, McCormick had two goals and three assists. She helped the team with four shots, three grounders, three draw controls and three caused turnovers.
