MAAC Player of the Week

Robin Kennery, Canisius, So., 2B, 5-7, Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville North

Kennery hit .455 (10-for-22) with two doubles, a home run, four runs scored and seven RBIs as the Golden Griffins went 4-2 in six MAAC games at home. The Blue and Gold’s second baseman extended her hitting streak to a career best 11 games with hits in all six games last week, highlighted by her 3-for-4 performance in the team’s 6-1 win over Manhattan April 20. In the team’s win against Niagara April 18, she stole a career-high three bases, and she ended the week with a .455 on-base percentage and a .682 slugging percentage. She also recorded 13 putouts and eight defensive assists as the Griffs moved to 6-4 in MAAC play on the season.

MAAC Pitcher of the Week

Jenn Sansano, Niagara, Jr., P, 6-0, Clarence, N.Y./St. Bonaventure

In six appearances including three starts, Sansano went 2-1 for a 1.66 ERA including back-to-back shutouts(April 18, 1-0 vs. Canisius & April 21, 5-0 vs. Manhattan). The junior pitched the first MAAC no-hitter of 2013 against Manhattan on Sunday, striking out 10 batters for her sixth win of the season. Sansano followed that performance by closing out game two of the Sunday doubleheader by striking out two and grounding out the third batter in the final inning to secure Niagara’s fourth MAAC win. Through the week, she threw 33 strikeouts in 25 1/3 innings.

MAAC Rookie of the Week

Alyssa Lancaster, Siena, Fr. LHP, 5-11, Hanover Park, Ill./Schaumberg

Lancaster was the only Saint to record a hit in all six games during Siena’s 5-1 week.  The freshman batted .474 and drove in six.  In the upset win against first-place Fairfield, Lancaster recorded the lone hit for the Saints, but ended up driving in what would become the winning run of the game.  In the series against Rider, she batted .571 (4-for-7) including a two-out two RBI double to break a 3-3 tie in the sixth.
