2013 Women's Tennis All-MAAC Teams Announced

Edison, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced the members of the 2013 Women’s Tennis All-MAAC teams, highlighted by Fairfield University’s Monica Yajima, who was selected as the league’s Player of the Year for the third year in a row.
Also earning individual honors is Niagara University’s Sarah Hellstern, earning Rookie of the Year. Niagara head coach Anthony Nguyen was named 2013 Anaconda Sports Coach of the Year.
Yajima, a junior from Greenwich, Conn., finished the regular season with an overall record of 18-9 and a perfect 7-0 mark in MAAC play. She ended the regular season with a record of 14-4 in first singles play. Yajima also earned a spot on the All-MAAC Second Team at No. 1 Doubles with her partner Carolina Koladzyn.
Hellstern, a freshman from Stuttgart, Germany, finished the regular season as a Purple Eagle with an overall record of 16-3 including a 5-1 record in the MAAC playing in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Hellstern also received All-MAAC Second Team honors at No. 2 Doubles with her partner Iva Celan.
Nguyen, currently in his 5th season at Niagara and 2nd season coaching the women’s program, led the Purple Eagles to an overall record of 14-7 and a 6-1 mark in conference play.
