Wagner Defeats Villanova in the MAAC Water Polo Semifinal

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – Top-seed Wagner College defeated fourth-seed Villanova University, 13-3, in the second semifinal of the 2013 MAAC Women’s Water Polo Championship, held at Marist College’s McCann Natatorium.
MAAC Rookie of the Year Jess Lundgren finished the day with three goals to her credit. Lily Doerfler, Megan Rodriguez and Michelle Greenough each netted two goals apiece.
Callan Edwards scored two goals for the Wildcats, while Sarina Shibata scored one goal.
Wagner will play second-seed Iona College for the championship title at 2:00pm on Sunday, April 28. Villanova will face Marist College in the consolation game tomorrow at noon.
The winner of the MAAC Water Polo League Championship will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Water Polo Championship. The selection show will take place on NCAA.com on Monday, April 29 at 8pm.
