MAAC Men's Player of the Week
JORDAN SCHWARTZ, NIAGARA
So., OF, 6-2, 190, Hornell, N.Y./Hornell

The Niagara sophomore turned in a fantastic week at the plate with a .533 (8-for-15) performance with five RBIs, four runs, and a pair of doubles in his four games last week.

He started the week by reaching base three times in his four at-bats against Big Four rival Buffalo.  He went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in the 9-3 victory.

The team took on the Fairfield Stags over the weekend and Schwartz turned in his best performance in the rubber game on Sunday afternoon.  The outfielder doubled down the right-field line to give the Purple Eagles a 3-0 lead.  The Stags rallied to take a six run by the sixth inning when Niagara would mount a Schwartz-led comeback.  He collected his second RBI in the seventh inning to get his team within one before giving them the lead, and the 9-8 win, in the eighth with a double to center.  He finished the game 2-for-5 with four RBIs.

He started on the mound and went the distance in the second game of the series.  With the game ties at 1-1 going into an extra frame, the right-hander singled up the middle to add an insurance run and scored the fourth and final run as NU won 4-1 in eight innings.  He went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs scored in the series opener.

MAAC Pitcher of the Week
ANTHONY CARINGI, NIAGARA
Jr., RHP, 6-2, 170, Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham

The Niagara hurler won a pair of games last week and finished with no earned runs on four hits with eight strikeouts with just one walk over nine innings in two appearances.

Caringi got the start for the Purple and White against cross-town rival Buffalo and pitched the first five innings. He scattered three hits throughout the outing and issues just one walk while striking out five.  He was awarded the win as the Purple Eagles came out on top 9-3.

He came out of the bullpen in NU’s 9-8 come-from-behind victory on Sunday over Fairfield.  He pitched four innings and gave up a single hit, which came in the eighth after Niagara took the lead in the top-half of the frame (the inning ended with the very next batter as Caringi induced a fly-out).  The lone run the Stag’s scored while the righty was on the mound went down as unearned and Caringi earned his second win in four games.

MAAC Rookie of the Week
ALEX GODZAK, CANISIUS
Fr., LHP, 5-9, 188, Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill

In the middle game of the weekend series against Marist, Godzak went 7.2 innings, allowing one run on five hits, walking two and striking out seven. Of the 23 outs recorded by the 5-foot-9 freshman, 21 of them stayed on the infield. The Syracuse, N.Y. native also had five assists and one putout. Godzak improved to 3-1 in league play and conference opponents are batting .152 against the lefty.
