2013 Women's Lacrosse All-MAAC Teams Announced

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Canisius College's Tori Quinn was selected as the MAAC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year, while teammates Morgan Leonard earned the Midfielder of the Year award and Kayla Scully the Defensive Player of the Year award to headline the 2013 Women's Lacrosse All-MAAC Teams, as voted by the league's head coaches.
Iona College freshman Mary Kate McCormick was named the Rookie of the Year, while Marist College head coach Jessica O’Brien earned the Anaconda Sports Coach of the Year honor.
Quinn, a 5-3 sophomore attack from Orangeville, Ontario, led the MAAC in points with 67 and a 4.19 average per game. She ranked second in assists with 25 and a 1.56 per game average and goals with 42. Quinn also led the league with six game-winning goals on the season. She was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week twice in 2013 and was a member of the 2012 All-MAAC Second and Rookie Teams last season.
The MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, Leonard, a 5-6 senior from Sykesville, Md., led the MAAC in four statistical categories which include: goals (49), goals per game (3.06), caused turnovers (44), and caused turnovers per game (2.75). She also ranked second in points with 3.62 per contest and in ground balls collecting 3.06 per game. Leonard ranks in the top five in the MAAC in seven different statistical categories. She was named Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week twice this season and was a member of the 2012 All-MAAC First Team while being named Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
Scully, a 5-4 sophomore goalkeeper from Rodman, N.Y., led the MAAC in goals against average with 7.28. She ranked second in the league with a save percentage of .533 and fifth in saves per game with 6.53 a contest. Scully was named Defensive Player of the Week on April 15 and was a member of the 2012 All-MAAC Rookie Team. ?
McCormick, a 5-7 freshman from Port Jefferson, N.Y., started in all 16 games for the Gaels in her freshman campaign. She ranks seventh in the MAAC with 13 assists and led her team in draw controls (40) and caused turnovers (14) this season. She was named Rookie of the Week on April 15 during the 2013 season.?
O’Brien helped lead Marist to a 4-2 MAAC record and an 8-9 overall mark. In only her third season as head coach for the Red Foxes, O’Brien has gone 9-9 in conference play.
The All-MAAC First Team consists of Canisius' Quinn, Iona’s Kylie Gregory, and Marist’s Tierney Larson and Ashley Miller at attack. The midfield consists of Canisius’ Leonard, Maria Kotas, and Lindsey Morgan, Fairfield's Chloe Mangan and Amanda Best, and Marist’s Jamie Romano. Canisius’ Ashley Bull, Fairfield’s Olivia Ziegler, and Iona’s Angela Grous make up the defense. Canisius’ Scully is goalkeeper.
The Second Team features Iona’s McCormick, Marist’s Kristen Viscount, Niagara’s Carrie-Jo Farrugia, and Siena’s Sarah Croutier at attack. Fairfield’s Courtney Chmil, Iona’s Meghan Testoni, Marist’s Amanda Tuck, and Siena’s Katie Maguire, Julia Sirianni, and Lauren Smith are at midfield. At defense are Canisius’ Sami Franco, Marist’s Bailey Knapton and Christine Astaria, and Siena’s Amanda Peguillan. The goalkeeper is Ashley Casiano of Marist.
The All-Rookie team consists of Canisius' Franco and Bull, Fairfield's Jenna Fuchs and Shelby Iapoce, Iona's McCormick, Manhattan's Stefanie Ranagan and Megan Yarusso, Marist'sAllison Gionta, Niagara’s Danielle Maio, and Siena's Sarah Croutier, Ashley Holdrigde, and Lauren Smith.?
