Bobcats To Face La Salle in ESPN Tip-Off Marathon

EDISON, NJ -- Saying that the Quinnipiac University men’s basketball team’s game at La Salle University on Nov. 12 is an “early test” for the Bobcats has a bit of dual meaning.
Not only will the Bobcats face a La Salle team that advanced to last year’s Sweet 16 just two games into the season, but the contest, on the road at the Explorers’ Gola Arena, is also part of ESPN’s Sixth Annual College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon and will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and ESPN3 with a 9:00 a.m. tip time.
“We are very excited to be a part of ESPN’s Tip-Off Marathon, and to be playing against a La Salle team which went to the Sweet 16 a year ago,” Quinnipiac coach Tom Moore told QuinnipiacBobcats.com.
Quinnipiac, which officially joined the MAAC at the beginning of July along with Monmouth University, is looking to improve on last year’s 15-16 campaign, which included a 11-7 record in Northeast Conference play. In their final season as a member of the NEC, the Bobcats advanced to the league tournament for the eighth straight season, and earned 10 or more wins in league play for the sixth straight year.
The Bobcats open the season at the Connecticut 6 Classic on Nov. 9, facing Hartford at the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard.
LaSalle returns four starters from last year’s 24-10 team, which included a surprising run in the NCAA Tournament to the Sweet 16, despite being a No. 13 seed.
