Bird, McKenzie and Hareau Earn Field Hockey Player of the Week Honors

MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

Rosie Bird, Bryant University
Junior, Forward, 5’7’’ (Hamilton, New Zealand/Hillcrest)

Helping lead her team to two road wins over the weekend, Bird tallied her second hat trick of the young 2013 season at Brown University, to help the Bulldogs top the Bears, 4-3, on Friday. Bryant completed the Ivy League sweep with a 2-1 victory at Harvard University on Sunday, with the New Zealander adding an assist on Bryant’s first goal of the contest. Bird currently leads the Bulldogs with six goals and one assist for a total of 13 points.

 

MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

Erin McKenzie, Robert Morris University
Junior, Goalkeeper, 5'9" (Lismore, Australia / University of Queensland Tech)

McKenzie picked up her second and third shutouts of the season in victories over Ball State University and Colgate University. The junior stopped six shots over the weekend and has raised her save percentage to .867 on the year. The two blank slates gave McKenzie her fourth and fifth of her career.

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

Nicole Hareau, Rider University
Freshman, Forward, 5’6’’ (
Montevideo, Uruguay/Colegio Ingles)

In Rider’s 1-1 week, Hareau scored the game winning goal in a 1-0 win at Villanova University on September 4th. The goal came with 5:10 left in regulation and allowed Rider to open the season 3-0 with Hareau scoring a goal in the first three games of her collegiate career.
