Molloy, Wurtz, Quarantillo and Epstein with Weekly Awards

EDISON, N.J. – The MAAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week is Rider University’s Zack Molloy. Meredith Wurtz is the MAAC Women’s Swimmer of the week. Canisius College takes home both diving weekly awards with Eddie Quarantillo winning the MAAC Men’s Diver of the Week, while Taylor Espstein won the award on the women’s side.
The MAAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week is Rider University’s Zack Molloy. In a victory over Marist, Molloy won the 200 free with a time of 1:43.57. He also had a winning time of 4:30.98 in the 500 free. In the 200 individual medley Molloy won with a time of 1:55.12. His time in the 500 was just 2 seconds off of the Rider record, and is ranked 44th in the country this year.
Meredith Wurtz from Marist College is the MAAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week. Wurtz took first place in both freestyle events in Marist’s 184-106 victory over Rider on Nov. 15, helping the Red Foxes earn 33 points. She swam to a time of 24.25 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, and followed up by winning the very next event, the 100-yard freestyle, in 53.18 seconds. Wurtz also swam the final leg of the 200-yard medley relay, which the Red Foxes won in 1:49.36 to kick off the meet. She finished second in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 1:57.30.
The MAAC Men’s Diver of the week is Canisius College’s Eddie Quarantillo. Senior Diver Eddie Quarantillo kept up his stellar season this weekend, as the Lewiston, N.Y., native won both the men’s 1-meter and 3-meter diving contests against St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon. Quarantillo dominated the competition and also broke his previous school record of 316.60, with a score of 318.30 in the men’s 1-meter. Quarantillo has been having an amazing season, winning numerous events over the teams first four meets.
Taylor Epstein from Canisius College is the Women’s Diver of the week. Epstein helped lead the Golden Griffins women’s swimming and diving team to its first ever victory over Big-4 rival St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon. Epstein was stellar on the diving board in both the women’s 1-meter and 3-meter. The senior from Cleveland, Ohio set the Canisius Koessler Athletic Center Pool record in the women’s 3-meter diving contest with a score of 245.25. This was just another step in a great season for Epstein, who has already won numerous diving events.
