Rider Sweeps Women's Basketball Weekly Awards

MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

MyNeshia McKenzie, Rider

Sr., F, 6-0, Springfield, Pa./Springfield (Delco)

 

McKenzie led Rider to a 2-0 week, including a MAAC win over previously undefeated in conference play Iona. Against the Gaels, which was seen on ESPN 3, McKenzie scored a Rider record 37 points and pulled down 19 rebounds as the Broncs broke the Gael 18-game winning streak with a 92-90 overtime victory. Against Niagara, McKenzie again scored a ‘double-double’ with 20 points and 11 rebounds as Rider won its third in a row with an 82-72 decision over the Purple Eagles. For the week, McKenzie averaged 28.5 points and 15.0 rebounds while playing 84 of a possible 85 minutes. She also became Rider’s all-time leading rebounder and is fourth all-time on Rider’s scoring list.

 

 

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

Julia Duggan, Rider

Fr., C, 6-1, Marmora, N.J./Ocean City

 

Duggan helped Rider to a 2-0 week by shooting 70 percent from the field in wins over Iona and Niagara. In the overtime win over the Gaels, Duggan had five points, three rebounds and went 3-for-4 from the free throw line. Against Niagara, Duggan was 6-for-7 from the field, scoring 13 points while adding four rebounds in the 82-72 win over the Purple Eagles. For the week, Duggan averaged 9.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in only 12.5 minutes per game.
