The First Women's Lacrosse Weekly Award Winners Announced

Offensive Player of the Week

Meghan Cuddy, Jr., Canisius

Attack, 5-7, Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker

Cuddy scored three goals on four shots on Sunday, when Canisius took on No. 2 Syracuse. Cuddy scored the first two goals of the game for the Griffs on back-to-back possessions in the first half, and then added another in the second frame.

Defensive Player of the Week

Nicole Markowitz, Monmouth

So., Defender, 5-7, Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin

Markowitz registered a game-high three caused turnovers in her first career start for the Hawks. The sophomore from Baldwin, New York, was part of a defensive effort that held Fresno State to just one goal at halftime as the Bulldogs were able to muster only seven shots in the first frame.  Last season as a freshman she appeared in 12 games, registering one caused turnover all season.

Rookie of the Week

Kendall Lutts, Monmouth 

Fr., Midfielder, 5-6, Ellicott City, Md./Glenelg High School

Lutts scored her first career goal in her first career game on Sunday against Fresno State. The midfielder took a pass from sophomore Marial Pierce and beat the Bulldog goalie to go up 2-0 with 16:31 to play in the first half. Three of the Maryland product’s four shots found the goal in the contest.
