Player of the Week

Kristen Turner - Iona

Fr., IF, 5-7, Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township

Kristen Turner is the MAAC Player of the Week after posting a .500 batting average over her first four collegiate games last weekend. Turner connected on seven hits in 14 trips to the plate, and clouted two doubles and two home runs. Turner also drove in five runs and scored five times. In the season opener against UMBC, Turner went 4-5, with a double, home run and three RBI. The following day against UMBC, Turner picked up a double and scored two more runs. Against St. Joseph's, Turner went 2-3 with a home run, two runs batted in and a run scored.

Pitcher of the Week

Jessika-Jo Sandrini – Siena

Sr., P/UT, 5-6, Adna, Wash./Adna

The MAAC’s Pitcher of the Week is Jessika-Jo Sandrini. Jessika-Jo started the season strong with a complete game, 1-0 shutout win over Oakland. In seven innings, Sandrini scattered four hits and struck out six while facing 26 batters. She continued her dominance on the mound in her second appearance of the weekend against Oakland. Sandrini relieved Antonia Edwards after her 5.2 shutout innings and continued to shut down the Oakland attack, pitching 1.2 innings, striking out five of the seven batters she faced.

Rookie of the Week

Bridget Hogan - Niagara

Fr., IF/P, Boston, N.Y./Hamburg

Bridget Hogan is the MAAC’s Rookie of the Week. She made an impact in her debut for Niagara. Hogan hit .357, which was tied for the second highest on the team, and led the team in slugging percentage (.714), RBI (five), doubles (2), total bases (10), home runs (1) stolen bases (1) and tied for the team-high in hits (5). Hogan’s biggest impact was her 3-for-4, three-RBI performance to spark Niagara’s 5-2 comeback win over Saint Joseph’s in its final game in the Phoenix Opening Classic on Sunday. Hogan tied the game at 2-2 with a two-run homer in the sixth inning and drove in the go-ahead run with a RBI single in the eighth inning. Hogan also made two appearances in the circle, striking out three and allowing 11 hits in 5.2 innings.
