Offensive Player of the Week

Tori Quinn, Canisius

Jr., Attack, 5-3, Orangeville, Ont./Orangeville

Quinn tallied eight goals and two assists in Canisius’ two wins over Ohio State and Colgate this week including both game winners. In Canisius’ win over Ohio State on Saturday, Quinn netted four goals – including the go ahead goal 3:10 to play – and also assisted on a pair of goals. Quinn’s six points in the contest was one shy of her career high. She also contributed a draw control and caused turnover in the win. On Tuesday, she helped the Griffs to a one-goal win over the Raiders by scoring four goals on her only four shot attempts. She also won a draw control in the contest.

Defensive Player of the Week

Maria Kota, Canisius

Sr., Midfield, 5-3, Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster

 

Kotas made her mark all over the field in the Griffs’ two wins over Ohio State and Colgate this week, totaling 10 ground balls, 10 caused turnovers, four draw controls and also chipped in five goals and an assist offensively. On Tuesday at Colgate, Kotas collected seven ground balls and five caused turnovers – both of which were career bests. She also chipped in a pair of draw controls and even tied her career-best four goals on the offensive end. In Saturday’s win over Ohio State, Kotas tied her new career high in caused turnovers, forcing another five. The senior collected another three ground balls, won two more draw controls and chipped in a goal and assist.

Rookie of the Week

Abigail Witczak, Marist 

Fr., GK, 5-2, Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham

Witczak led her team to two wins this weekend as Marist defeated USC 12-10 and Fresno State 17-8. She had a total 11 saves on the weekend with 37 shots faced. She had a combined save percentage of 42.3 percent. Witczak made eight saves against USC in 60 minutes of play in 28 shots faced and three saves against Fresno State in 43 minutes of play in nine shots faced.
