Offensive Player of the Week
Allison Gionta, Marist
So., Attack, 5-7, Eastport, N.Y./Eastport South Manor
Sophomore attack, Allison Gionta registered a team-high six points in Marist’s 12-7 win over Binghamton on Wednesday. She scored four goals on six shots and dished out two assists in the win. All six of Gionta’s shots were on goal. She also collected one ground ball as well in the contest.
Defensive Player of the Week
Abigail Witczak, Marist
Fr., GK, 5-2, Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham
Freshman keeper, Abigail Witczak led the Red Foxes to a 12-7 win over Binghamton on Wednesday and helped improve the team record to 6-2 this season with another stellar performance in the net. Witczak posted 12 saves for Marist in 60:00 minutes of action and recorded a save percentage of 63.2 percent in the win. She also collected three ground balls.
Rookie of the Week
Riley Hellstein, Fairfield
Fr., Midfielder, 5-7, Feeding Hills, Mass./Agawam
Riley Hellstein scored a combined four goals and two assists in Fairfield’s victories over Sacred Heart and Niagara this past week. In the 14-10 win over Sacred Heart on March 26, Hellstein scored one goal and recorded one assist for a two-point game. She also tallied a game-high seven draw controls and caused one turnover. In the 19-7 victory over Niagara on March 29, she tallied three goals with one assist for a four-point effort. Hellstein went 1-1 on her free position attempt, which resulted in her second goal of the game. She also picked up three ground balls and recorded three draw controls for Fairfield.
