MAAC Golf Championships Tee-Off April 25; Highlights on MAAC.TV and Final Day on ESPN3

EDISON, NJ - The 2014 MAAC Men's and Women's Golf Championships begin Friday, April 25 at Disney's Palm Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The championship will be highlighted on the final day of the championships with the ninth and 18th holes’ action being broadcast live on ESPN3 starting at 10:00 a.m.
ESPN’s Wide World of Sports production center will also produce highlights from each day of action. The highlights can be viewed on MAAC.TV and will also run on Disney’s in-room channel at the various resorts on Disney property. MAAC.TV will also show interviews with each of the head coaches from the league. In addition, live scoring will be available via Golfstat.com for all three days of the championships with the results updated every third hole.
The men's championship, played from the blue tees on the par-72, 7,011-yard course, begins at 7:30 a.m. on Friday from the 10th hole. The women, hitting from the gold tees on the 6,006-yard course, begin play at 7:40 a.m. on the 1st hole. Men's and women's tee times are available on the championship page.
With the departure of defending men’s MAAC champions, Iona College heads into the tournament as last season’s MAAC championship runner-up and looks to claim the title this year. The Gaels have not held the title since 2002. On the women's side, Siena will try to win its 13th MAAC title in 14 years.
The men's and women's individual champions will each receive McLeod Memorial Award trays engraved by JJ Mele of Pelham who has prepared every award offered by the program. Both the 2014 Champions will have their names inscribed on the permanent McLeod Memorial Award Tray.
The Charles "Scott" McLeod Award has been presented annually since 1986 to the men's and women's individual winners of the MAAC Championship. The award has been presented in memory of a graduate of Pelham Memorial High School '75 and Iona College '80, who passed away in 1985. Scott McLeod was an enthusiastic golfer, a member of the Pelham Country Club, and a sponsor of the MAAC Golf Championship when the event was first held at Pelham.
The MAAC men's and women's champions will receive automatic bids to the 2014 NCAA Division I Golf Championships.
