Top Two Seeds Advance to MAAC Men's Tennis Championship

West Windsor, N.J. - Marist College and Monmouth University have advanced to the finals of the MAAC Men's Tennis Championship after winning their semifinal matches against Fairfield University and Niagara University, respectively.
Top-seeded Marist cruised into the final with a 4-1 victory over fourth-ranked Fairfield. Fairfield claimed the doubles point and was ahead in first and second singles, but it was not enough to defeat the Red Foxes. Marist’s picked up wins from Will Reznek at third singles, Joe Dube at fourth singles, Fredik Bjerke at fifth singles and Matteo Giudici at sixth singles. The Red Foxes will be looking to repeat in the MAAC Championship and return to the NCAA Championship.
The second-seeded Hawks defeated third-seeded Niagara, winning 4-2 over the Purple Eagles in the second semifinal. After winning the doubles point, the Hawks got singles points from Victor Pugliese at first singles, Przemyslaw Filipek at second singles and Christian Vieira at sixth singles.
In the regular season, Marist narrowly defeated Monmouth, 4-3, on Apr. 14.
The men's championship match will begin at approximately 10 a.m.
