Offensive Player of the Week
Maria Kotas, Canisius
Sr., Midfielder, Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster
Kotas racked up a school-record 14 points on eight goals and six assists in the Griffs’ win over Quinnipiac on Sunday. Her outburst was good for a tie for fourth all-time in NCAA history and was the most points scored in a game at the Division I level since 2007. Kotas also tied the MAAC record for points in a game on Sunday, and tied the program record for goals in a game. She also contributed a game-high five ground balls and a team-high two caused turnovers as well. Kotas also netted three goals in the first game of the week, a 10-9 loss to Marist.
Defensive Player of the Week
Bailey Knapton, Marist
Sr., Defense, Canandaigua, N.Y./ Canandaigua Academy
Knapton helped lead the Red Foxes to two conference wins this past week with a solid defensive presence. Knapton collected a combined eight ground balls, won four draw controls, and caused four turnovers in wins over MAAC foes Canisius and Iona.
Rookie of the Week
Riley Hellstein, Fairfield
Fr., Midfielder, Feeding Hills, Mass./ Agawam
Riley Hellstein scored a combined three goals and added an assist in Fairfield’s victories over Iona and Manhattan this past week. In the 16-4 win over Iona on April 2, Hellstein scored three goals, one of which was the game-winner, for a three-point effort. She also picked up two ground balls, tallied two draw controls, and caused one turnover. In the 12-6 victory over Manhattan on April 5, she garnered one assist for a one-point game. Hellstein picked up three ground balls, recorded a game-high six draw controls, and caused one turnover for the Stags.
