Player of the Week
Jordan Paolucci - Quinnipiac
Jr., C-IF, 5-9, Lake Mary, Fla./Lake Mary
The MAAC Softball Player of the Week is Jordan Paolucci. The junior spearheaded an incredible week for the Quinnipiac offense that averaged over 8 runs per game and close to 10 hits in seven games. Paolucci hit .565 (13-for-23) with nine runs, two doubles, two walks, three home runs and 12 RBI. She picked up three three-hit games and scored two runs in four games. Paolucci started the week off with a 3-for-4 day against Fairfield with one double and one run scored. She followed that with two runs scored and a single in the Bobcats’ come-from-behind 11-10 win over UConn. Paolucci continued her offensive assault over the weekend, with all 12 RBI in four games against St. Peter’s and Rider. She concluded the weekend by clouting home runs in three consecutive games, including a grand slam and six RBI in the second game against Saint Peter’s.
Pitcher of the Week
Rebecca Trott – Fairfield
Sr., P/3B, San Diego, Calif./Poway
The MAAC Softball Pitcher of the Week is Rebecca Trott. The senior righty picked up a pair of wins for the Stags last week, both coming against MAAC opponents. Trott tossed a five-inning, three-hit shutout against Quinnipiac to start the week, scattering three hits and striking out eight in a 10-0 win. Later in the week against Niagara, she allowed two hits and one run in a 17-1 victory. Trott struck out five in the win. She also pitched a scoreless inning in relief to earn a save against Stony Brook. She struck out 14 batters and allowed five hits in 11 innings during the week.
Rookie of the Week
Kristen Turner - Iona
Fr., IF, 5-7, Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township
The MAAC Softball Rookie of the Week is Kristen Turner. Turner hit .429 (6-for-14) over four games as Iona enjoyed a 4-0 week. Turner drove in 11 runs and connected for three extra base hits, including two home runs. Against Saint Peter's, Turner went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI. Turner delivered a run scoring double and a three-run homer as the Gaels came back from a 5-0 deficit with 13 unanswered runs. Against Canisius in game one of a DH, Turner delivered her third grand slam of the season in the sixth inning. Turner then went 2-for-3 in game two, with a two RBI as Iona won 14-6 in five innings. It is the second consecutive week that Turner has received Rookie of the Week honors.
