Jen Morabito of Canisius Named First MAAC Victory Scholar

Edison, N.J. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announces Canisius College graduate Jen Morabito will be the first recipient of the Victory Scholarship, in partnership with the Sport Changes Life Foundation.

Sport Changes Life (SCL), specializes in inspiring young people to excel to their highest level in personal, sporting and academic domains through a unique international scholarship program, the values of sporting excellence and community service.

Jen Morabito will be attending Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland to continue her academic work and serve as a mentor, leader, coach and role model for local at risk youth while serving the community and experiencing life abroad.  She is a 2014 graduate of Canisius College and team captain of the women’s basketball team. Morabito not only excelled on the court, but in the classroom as well graduating with a 3.42 GPA. She was a three time MAAC All-Academic recipient and was a member of the 2011 All-MAAC Rookie Team. Morabito was among the conference leaders in three point field goal percentage in 2014 and finished her career with the Golden Griffins averaging 7.3 points per game.

“Jen embodies the type of student athlete we want representing the MAAC as a victory scholar” said MAAC Director of Women’s Basketball Operations, Jordan Confessore.

“We really look forward to starting this partnership with the Sport Changes Life Foundation and are excited about our continued relationship going forward” notes MAAC Commissioner Richard J. Ensor.

Morabito added “I couldn’t be more grateful and eager for what this upcoming year’s adventure may bring as I travel to Ireland with the Victory Scholar Program”.

As a part of their agreement with the MAAC, Sport Changes Life will provide this scholarship each year to MAAC scholar-athletes who wish to pursue advanced study in graduate programs at top universities in Ireland while contributing to community service programs for youth at risk and continuing to play their sport. The “MAAC Sport Changes Life Victory Scholars” will be trained to coach and mentor young people at risk in local communities gaining and sharing invaluable life experience, as well as progressing their academic and life goals.
