Offensive Player of the Week
Abigail Armstrong, Bryant
Sr., M, 5-0, Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac
After struggling to find footing through the first two weeks of the season, senior midfielder Abigail Armstrong put together a spectacular weekend to help Bryant earn its first two wins on the year. On Friday, Armstrong assisted on Bryant’s first marker of the game vs. UMass Lowell, while on Sunday, she capped off a perfect 2-0 weekend with her first-career hat trick to lead the Bulldogs to a 5-0 win over Saint Louis.
Defensive Player of the Week
Mary Altepeter, Sacred Heart
Jr., GK, 5-9, Chesterfield, Mo./Visitation Academy
Mary Altepeter went 3-0 in net during the week as Sacred Heart defeated Yale, Saint Louis, and Holy Cross. She made 18 saves while only allowing three goals for a goals against average of 1.29. In the victory over Yale, she recorded 13 saves as the Pioneers were able to hold of the Bulldogs 3-2. She followed that up with four saves in a victory over Saint Louis. On Sunday, Altepeter recorded her first shutout of the season as Sacred Heart blanked Holy Cross 2-0.
Rookie of the Week
Olivia Volpe, Sacred Heart
Fr., F, 5-6, Metuchen, N.J./Metuchen
Freshman Olivia Volpe scored the game-winning goal in the Sacred Heart’s Friday night victory over Saint Louis. With the score tied at 1-1 nearing halftime, Volpe deflected in a Liz Bergman shot to put the Pioneers up 2-1. The goal was Volpe’s first career collegiate goal.
