Danielle Gallagher, Sacred Heart
So., F/M, 5-2, Clayton, Del./St. Thomas Moore Academy
Danielle Gallagher scored three goals in two games during the week including the game-winning goal in overtime in the Pioneers’ season opening win against Villanova. The game-winning goal came with no time remaining on the clock, as Sacred Heart was awarded one last penalty corner. Gallagher deflected in a shot sent in by Liz Bergman past the keeper to win the game 2-1. Gallagher also scored Sacred Heart’s first goal in the game in the first half less than two minutes after Villanova took the lead. In the Pioneers’ 5-3 defeat on Sunday at Rutgers, Gallagher opened the scoring for SHU. The goal was the first of three unanswered as Sacred Heart would come back to tie the game at 3-3 after trailing 3-0 at halftime.
