Player of the Week
Joy Adams, Iona
Jr., F, 5-11, Orlando, Fla./Evans
Gael’s junior forward Joy Adams averaged 21.7 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 3.0 steals and 1.7 blocks over three games during the week for the Gaels. Adams connected on 25 field goals over the three games, and shot 53.2% from the field. Adams opened the week with 17 points, 16 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and three steals on the road at East Tennessee State. In league action, Adams scored 23 points, grabbed 11 boards, dished out four assists and picked up four steals in a home victory over Monmouth. She connected on 11 field goals in the win. Adams then scored 25 points in a ten-point win over Canisius. She posted her second straight 20-point scoring effort on a 9-for-15 effort from the field, and went 6 for 7 on the line. Adams added 10 rebounds to complete her 51st career double-double and third of the week.
Rookie of the Week
Casey Smith, Fairfield
So., F, 6-2, Danbury, Conn./Danbury
Casey Smith led all scorers in the only game the Stags played this weekend, tallying 21 points against Niagara. Smith shot 56 percent from the floor in the game, including a 67 percent clip in the first half. Smith also tallied three assists, and led the game with two total blocks. Two of Smith's three free throws tied the game. Smith also had two jumpers that would tie the game late. Smith became the first Stag this season to record back-to-back 20 point games.
