MAAC Sports
Wilson Offensive Player of the Week
Lizzy Carlson, Manhattan
Jr., M, 5-8, Auburn, NY/Auburn
Carlson notched two goals last week, both of which ended up registering as game-winning scores for Manhattan. She opened last week’s six-goal explosion with a blast off of Colleen Kavanagh’s corner kick in 5-0 win over Saint Peter’s on Oct. 7. Carlson followed that up with the lone goal of the Jaspers’ 1-0 win over Niagara off a feed from freshman Nicole Copping. All four of Carlson’s goals this season have been of the game-winning variety for Manhattan and are tied for the MAAC lead. On the year, she is second on the Jaspers in both points (10) and goals (4).
Wilson Defensive Player of the Week
Kristen Skonieczny, Manhattan
Sr., GK, 5-7, Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington
Skonieczny had another outstanding week, going 2-0 with a pair of shutout wins over Saint Peter’s and at Niagara. The senior goalkeeper made five saves in each victory. Skonieczny is now 7-2-1 on the year with six shutouts and a .041 GAA with a .918 save percentage.
