Fairfield University and Marist College Meet in 2015 MAAC Volleyball Championship

LOUDONVILLE, NY –Number one seed Fairfield University faces number two seed Marist College in the 2015 MAAC Volleyball Championship Final on Sunday, November 22 at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN3.

Regular season champion, Fairfield University made it to the 2015 MAAC Volleyball Championship Final after a thrilling five set win over number four seed Manhattan College. For the Stags, Megan O’Sullivan hit .333 in the match to go along with 18 kills and five digs. Skyler Day and Megan Theiller both recorded double-doubles in the match. Theiller had 16 kills and 15 digs. Day added 15 kills and 22 digs. Libero Taylor Rudeen led Fairfield with 23 digs. Sydney Buckley led the Stags with 57 assists.

Number two seed Marist College advances to the 2015 MAAC Volleyball Championship Final after defeating number six seed Niagara University in straight sets. Marist won each set 25-20, 26-24, and 25-21, respectively. The Red Foxes saw Kelsey Ediger post 12 kills and 15 digs for a double-double. Amanda Schlegel also posted a double-double with 29 assists and 17 digs. Libero Lexi Millington added 14 digs in the win for Marist. On Marist's second point of the match, senior Courtney Shaw became the fifth player in program history to reach 1,000 career kills.

During the regular season, Fairfield swept the season series defeating the Red Foxes 3-2 back on October 11 and 3-1 on November 4. These two schools met in the championship final back in 2013 with Fairfield defeating Marist to win its seventh MAAC Volleyball Championship Title. Fairfield will look to win its eighth MAAC Volleyball Championship on Sunday. Marist College will look to win its first ever MAAC Volleyball Championship. The Red Foxes have appeared in the last two MAAC Championship games.
