Player of the Week

Maureen Duddy, Marist

Jr., INF, 5-6, San Mateo, Calif./Aragon

Duddy hit .417 (5-for-12) with an on-base percentage of .533, three walks and two stolen bases as Marist went 2-2 at the Citrus Classic this weekend, with wins over Virginia and Campbell. She had a single, an RBI and a stolen base against Virginia on Friday, and followed it with a single, walk and stolen base against George Washington later that day. On Saturday, Duddy drew two walks against Campbell, and then went 3-for-4 with a run scored against Arkansas.

Pitcher of the Week

Jayne Oberdorf, Marist

So., Pitcher, 5-5, Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem

Oberdorf had a complete game victory and an ERA of 1.56 in nine innings over two appearances this past week. On Saturday, she threw a complete game as Marist defeated Campbell 2-1. Oberdorf held the Camels scoreless over the final six innings, and got out of a bases-loaded  jam in the sixth to preserve the one-run lead. She allowed just five hits and three walks while striking out six. The previous day, she allowed one run and just two hits and no walks in two innings of relief against George Washington, which also included one strikeout.

Rookie of the Week

Paige Hess, Siena

Fr., INF, 5-7, Gilbert, Ariz./Campo Verde

Paige Hess has established herself as one of the Saint’s best player in just her first weekend of competition. The freshman from Gilbert, Arizona, started in all five games for the Saints this weekend batting .400 with six hits, two runs, and one RBI. In her first career game against Columbia, she went 2-for-3 with one run. Against Eastern Michigan, she went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI in the Saint’s loss. In the field, she had a perfect fielding percentage with five put outs and three assists.
