MAAC Men's Basketball Seed Possibilities & Tie Breakers

EDISON, N.J. – With Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s basketball regular season play wrapping up on Sunday, March 1, the results of tomorrow’s five contests can impact final seedings in a multitude of ways. Below are details on each team’s tiebreaker scenarios pending tomorrow’s results.

The Iona Gaels (No. 1 seed), Rider Broncs (No. 2 seed), Canisius Golden Griffins (No. 5 seed), and Quinnipiac Bobcats (No. 6 seed) are locked into their respective slots at the upcoming championship. Manhattan and Monmouth have secured first-round byes, but final seedings will be determined following tomorrow’s contests.

Iona (17-2) at Saint Peter’s Rider on Sunday 3/1

Clinched # 1 seed.  Will play winner of #8/9 game on Saturday 3/7 at 12:00pm

Rider (14-5) vs. Marist on Sunday 3/1

Clinched # 2 seed.  Will play winner of #7/10 game on Saturday 3/7 at 5:30pm

Manhattan (12-7) vs. Quinnipiac on Sunday 3/1

Finishes # 3 with WIN OR Monmouth LOSS

Finishes # 4 with LOSS AND Monmouth WIN

Monmouth (12-7) vs. Siena on Sunday 3/1

Finishes # 3 with WIN AND Manhattan LOSS

Finishes # 4 with LOSS OR Manhattan WIN

Canisius (11-9) Season complete

Clinched # 5 seed.  Will play # 4 seed Saturday 3/7 at 2:30pm

Quinnipiac (9-10) at Manhattan on Sunday 3/1

Saint Peter’s swept Siena head to head

Saint Peter’s is # 7, Siena is # 8

If Saint Peter’s, Siena and Niagara finish tied 7th at 7-13

Siena 2-2

Niagara 1-3

If Siena and Niagara finish tied for 8th at 7-13

Siena swept Niagara head to head

Siena is # 8, Niagara is # 9

If Niagara and Fairfield finish tied for 9th at 6-14

Teams will have split head to head.  Both teams were 0-2 vs. Iona. Niagara split with Rider while Fairfield was 0-2 vs. Rider

Niagara is # 9, Fairfield is # 10

If Niagara, Fairfield and Marist finish tied for 9th at 6-14

Teams split head to head.  Both teams would be 0-2 vs. Iona, Rider and Monmouth.  Fairfield split with Manhattan while Marist was 0-2 vs. Manhattan.
