Jarosz and Hetzke Named Weekly Award Winners in MAAC Women's Basketball

Tori Jarosz, Marist

Senior center Tori Jarosz led the way for the Red Foxes this week, contributing with two consecutive double-doubles as the Red Foxes swept their western New York road trip for the fifth consecutive year. In the Red Foxes first action of the week a Jarosz, who tallied a career high 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, led the Red Foxes to a win over Niagara, 75-66, at the Gallagher Center Thursday night. Jarosz finished the game 9-for-17 from the floor and 5-for-6 from the free throw stripe while adding an assist, a block and a steal in 36 minutes of action. In the next game, Jarosz recorded her eighth double-double of the season, with 22 points and 12 rebounds, as the Red Foxes defeated Canisius, 63-49, Saturday afternoon at the Koessler Center. Jarosz, the only player on the Red Foxes in double digits, finished 8-for-15 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free throw line while adding an assist in only 21 minutes of action.
Rookie of the Week
Margot Hetzke, Siena
Fr., F, 5-11, Penfield, N.Y./Penfield
Hetzke averaged 13.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks while shooting 47.6% from the field and 50% from three-point range in a perfect 2-0 week for the Saints. On Thursday, Hetzke scored 10 points and added seven rebounds as the Saints dismantled a Rider team which had entered play as winners of four of the previous five, 65-43 on the road. On Saturday, she scored 16 points and added six rebounds and two blocks as the Saints swept the regular season series from Monmouth, 65-58.
